The Heart and Character of God

The Heart and Character of God

What are the things? What’s your Tarshish? What are you running too
in order to get away from? What are the things that
you’ve intentionally turned and said, “I’m not gonna do that, “I’m just gonna hold and do this.” When we turn down what we
know of the character of God, of God’s promises and the truth
that the life He has for us is an abundant one filled with purpose it becomes a lot easier to turn and run. And some of you might
be sitting there saying, “Well actually Karmyn I
kinda live in Tarshish, “like I’m already as far away “as I can possibly get
from what God has for me. “Actually I don’t know
how to hear his voice, “I actually frankly
don’t know if I’m turning “and running the other way. “I don’t know how to hear His voice. “How do I even know
what He wants from me?” A few things I’ll say to that. First, there’s nowhere that you can go that God isn’t and he is with you. Even just knowing that truth, I’d invite you to sit with that. And I’d say get to know the
heart and the character of God. Learn what the promises of God are. Learn what the character of God is. Yes there are certainly times in our life where there may be a specific
call that God gives us that says, “I want you to go there.” But most of our life God
has already laid out. If we know who He is and we
know what His character is and we know what His promises
are it helps pave the way for the way that we should walk. And how do we best do that? Just turn to scripture
and you’ll start to see the promises of God rise up. But more importantly, God calls us to look at the life of Jesus. 2 Corinthians 1, says that any
of the promises that God gave were fulfilled in Jesus. They are yes and amen. So if you wanna know what
the promises of God are, look to the life of Jesus. Start to see what his words for us are. The path that he has for us and then we know what the direction is that we need to follow.
