When someone opens a box,
it really feels like a holiday gift has arrived, and that’s the experience that we want people to have immediately. Mouth is about discovering the most
interesting and delicious products made in the U.S. and then curating those into gift collections. The design is super important because
we use the box as like a key element in our branding. When we did our packaging, one of the things that
we wanted to do was show the products right away. We didn’t want them wrapped in a million different layers. It’s a self-contained experience,
which we wanted the box itself to be the gift. The packaging that we use allows us to
communicate that in a really authentic way. I have always been sort of a paper freak. Nothing makes me happier than getting a big delivery from a paper company. When we started the process of redesigning
our boxes, we spent a lot of time on the sizes, what the right feeling would be,
what we could use as a design element on the outside of the packaging. Paper packaging is the perfect solution for us,
because it feels like the right sensibility for our brand, and yet at the same time it’s able
to give the product the protection that they need. Some of the feedback we get from our
customers is the box itself feels different. They’re super excited to get it and saying every product
inside was so beautiful, and then it tasted so great. Converting those recipients of the box into becoming
customers, it’s sort of a loop that we really strive for. That box is truly the best
marketing that we could have.
